The preseason update of the Rivals250 for the class of 2020 was released today.
And there was plenty of movement in the most recent version of the rankings, as there were tons of movers and shakers after another round of camps and evaluations revealed new insight on the rising senior class.
How did Miami and Category20 do? The Canes' total number of commits inside the Rivals250 actually stayed the same since the last update and held steady at six, but how they got there was a little bit different than two months ago. From last update, the Canes lost commitments from WR Bryan Robinson and DE Samuel Anaele, while TE Dominic Mammarelli fell out of the rankings. However, UM gained a pair of teammates in Oakleaf stars OT Jalen Rivers and DE Chantz Williams, as well as IMG Academy WR standout Michael Redding. Of Miami commits, Rivers got the biggest bump, leaping 26 spots to #183 overall, while RB Don Chaney is still UM's highest ranked commit on Rivals at #38 overall.
With the cycle closer to winding down, there was a surprising lack of Miami targets on the list as their board has really narrowed in the past month or two.
Without further delay, here's a handy, dandy list of the Miami commits and targets in the newest Rivals250.

Thoughts
**I find it interesting when there is a huge rankings disparity between the services, and that's exactly true in the case of Miami commit S Keshawn Washington. While 247Sports and ESPN have dropped Washington into the mid three-star range at this point, Rivals is holding steady to their original evaluation of Washington as a top 150 overall talent and even gave him a small bump up of 5 spots in this update. Washington was a camp standout over the 2018 offseason after a strong sophomore year, but didn't have the best junior season and missed out on participating in the 2019 offseason camps due to recovery from shoulder surgery. It will be intriguing to see if he can regain the form he once had as a long, rangy, and athletic safety prospect this year, or if his senior season makes clear that he has already hit his ceiling. I'll be watching.
**Miami TE commit Dominic Mammarelli continued his slow and methodical fall down the rankings, completing his drop from the Rivals250 this time. It's very tough for anyone to maintain his high perch when he's not showing up to off-season camps AND his high school team throws the ball 5 times per game. Again though, the fact that he is still rated a 4-star by Rivals with such little exposure shows you how impressive Mammarelli's raw tools are.
**The industry continues to warm up to Canadian TE Theo Johnson, who moved up 168 spots on 247Sports last month and now leaps 44 spots on Rivals. Johnson proved he was an elite TE at the Opening Finals last month with both top-notch production at the event as well as freak-like testing numbers. Another bump I agreed with was Rivers moving up 26 slots, as he proved he could play tackle at the next level against a very good DL field at Paradise Camp. Rivers looked at home working at left tackle most of the night, as he’s trimmed some bad weight from his frame and gained some quickness on the edge. The length and physicality has always been there with him, and he's exciting prospect for Butch Barry to mold.
