In his interview with Joe Rose this morning on WQAM, Mario Cristobal said Mark Fletcher is "all the way back and ready to play." The Canes play the Florida Gators on Saturday.

Fletcher injured his foot in the Pinstripe Bowl against Rutgers and spent the spring and summer rehabbing.

The sophomore running back, who ran for 515 yards and 5 TDs last year, was featured prominently on the University's latest Canes Camp video feature:

The Hurricanes are deep at the position, featuring Oregon State transfer and 1,000+yard rusher Damien Martinez, the returning Ajay Allen, blue-chip freshman Jordan Lyle and 10.2 speedster Chris Johnson. Miami finished 20th nationally in yards per rush, with 5.0 yards per carry as a team.

I'll believe it when I see him on Saturday but this would be massive.

I've been quite vocal that I don't expect to see what should be Year 2 Mark Fletcher this season (meaning the full, natural progression from a freshman to a sophomore), firstly because I don't believe he's going to play until he actually does, and secondly because he missed so much of the off-season. But if he really is fully cleared and has no limitations due to the foot, it's massive because he's going to do nothing but get stronger throughout the season, and to have him fresh in November and close to as strong as he would have been with a full off-season, it'd be a major shot in the arm late in the year as other start to wear down.

I would like to see 35 touches by the backs on Saturday.

20 by Martinez
5 by Fletcher
5 by whoever is ahead between Allen/Lyle
5 by Johnson

And several of those better be in the throw game. Our backs combined for 27 catches in 13 games last year. That's pathetic. 35+ touches from this group of dudes, with at least 5 of them coming in the passing game.

With the way D$ has been talking about Allen I think he’s ahead of lyle

2 230 pound freight trains coming at those UF LBs - just need McCoy Carpenter and Cooper to move these big blobs out of the lane

That’s the battle I want to see. Can Carpenter hold up? We have heard zero about him which I guess is a good thing. Hopefully he just does his job.

Is McCoy ready or will we see Samson. The positive is the ride side should be strong and Cam is mobile. Great first test for the line.

@DMoney Like how your pushing out these threads full force for game week💯‼️ 🔪 🐊 🔫

Pero ❓ is what percentage of the long awaited season intro is done 😂😭🤣

With the final Canes Camp hype video focusing nearly 30% of it on Fletcher, I was wondering if he'd be back. If he truly is, with Martinez, this could be ******* amazing!

AJ Allen is being forgotten about , I wouldn’t be surprised if he made a big play this Saturday
Cribby, seems to me that Chris Johnson Jr. is being forgotten about, there has been reports that the light turned on for him in camp this cycle. Would you mind giving your insight as to CJJ and playing time in the UF game this Saturday.

Thanks a head of time for any response.

Signed,

Peruche

I'd still rather give him a few more weeks rest. RB is one of the last positions I'm worried about. Expecting a good game out of Ajay in the backup roll

Yeah it goes Martinez, possibly Allen/Fletcher and then Lyle.

If Lyle plays on Saturday it’s cause Miami is running away with it in the 4th quarter.
WOW , those are pure DUDES to be platooning at FB everyone plays everyone feeds.

Not buying the Mario smokescreen. I will not believe Fletcher is playing until I see him in the backfield.

I’m excited to see Allen get meaningful snaps and possibly Johnson.

Speaking of injuries, any update on Montrel Johnson? Some recent noise that he “might” play tho most Gator insiders do not believe he will be ready.

Fletch healthy or not…. I need CJJ to get at least 3-5 scripted plays. He’s a threat to break one every time he touches it. Draw it up in space, Dawson knows what he needs to do.

Wondering if we’ll see any split back formations this year
