Mario Cristobal on GT loss: “You’ve gotta be a grown man and own it”

I just hope to God they actually TRY and make some meaningful changes on the D both personnelwise and schematically. They still control their destiny playoffwise and this is too good of a hear to **** down the drain by waiting until the wnd of the year to reflect.

It sounds like Guidry is bulletproof but Mario better demand something changes. He needs to at least hold the coaches as accountable as he does the players....he hasn't in the past imo.

GT did the exact same thing they did last year with just a different DC. Keep everything in front of you and choose your spots to blitz. The only difference this year was TVD wasn’t throwing into the deep coverages throwing picks. But we ran the ball much better and didn’t let them control the ball quite as much. How we wasn’t prepared for this is mind boggling. They don’t have the athletes to play our skill guys so it was obvious the game plan would remain the same . They were also alllowed to grind the ball and clock . We were put in quick sand and fought like **** to get out and we know how that ends.
Ultimately the loss is on the D, again.

GT were incredibly limited on O but we had no answers.

I've no idea why Guidry has fallen off a cliff as a DC, but it's incredibly worrying.

First off I think we were decisively out coached. Our staff played right into their hands. Secondly I put this on both sides , because I expect more from the offense. We put a large amount of money in the offense so it should be held to a higher standard. They can’t have average games. The defense gets their normal blame too though.

GT was as one dimensional as it gets, and they pushed our **** in.

We had NO answer for them on DEFENSE.

Yeah, the offense deserves some criticism, but this is on Guidry.

If he can't put together a decent product with our current roster, then he is useless, and should be considered as a candidate to be replaced. Beating jags is cool, but when it matters most, we won't stand a chance.

This has been the elephant in the room for the better pat of our season. It should be recognized as such, assuming the plan is to win big.

That was about as bad a GT team as I've seen..small, slow and extremely limited in what they can do.
Whole team should absolutely be embarrassed... especially coaching staff and especially the untouchable head man.
How we handle these next two games will speak volumes about everyone mentioned above.

Guidry got a raise playing a 3-3 stack last season which is easier to learn and play. These kids can't play his scheme. Everyone, but 2 players have gotten worse. Those 2 weren't here last season. GT played a injured QB who couldn't throw. They were on their 3rd string RB early. They threw 17 times. They had a historical 11 minute drive. We couldn't get them off the field. They had the ball 10 more minutes than us. The O had issues. Mentioning Cam not checking down, holding the ball to long and not running up field has become as redundant as the defense. Guidry lost this game, not the O. The D is getting worse. That was a complete embarrassment on D.

We had the ball last to go in for the win! 100% agree! The offense use of personnel is fireable. We have a couple fast RB sitting on the bench. No sweeps, no wheel routes. We show the same plays and sets every week. No new wrinkles, to keep opposing defenses guessing.

We were laughing, joking and having fun on the sidelines and one (OL) kid was dancing to the music in the huddle between plays yet we never led in the game.
Now were mad and extremely upset? WTF.

Hey Mario! You & your staff were out coached yet again. The coaching on this team is average at best. ******* embarrassing!
Oregon sure isn't missing him and theyre winning with less.

Own it??? What does it even mean?
This D is beyond owning, 9 games into the season.

Mario is a joke of a coach and will always be a joke of a coach
He's absolutely terrible. He can acquire all the talent in the world and he'll never be a good coach. He has zero idea of how to game plan for different teams based on what their strengths and weaknesses are as we all saw vs a banged up and decidedly mediocre Georgia Tech team. They literally had QBs who were zero threat in the passing game and banged up RBs yet we allowed them to bleed us to death and push our **** in for 271 yards rushing. If that wasn't insulting enough, they faced a 3rd and 18 in the 4th quarter where the defense needed desperately to get off the field and guess what? The backup QB converted it easily as he hit the wide open slot WR on a shallow post across the middle of the field absolutely wide open! Just sickening!

No issue with his response other than regarding GT running game. To get gashed consistently when it’s been a season-long issue is unacceptable. As HC he shouldn’t accept it, either.
