Manny Diaz says “I’m at peace” about his return to Miami

Manny Diaz is making his return back to Hard Rock Stadium to play an 8-0 undefeated Miami Hurricanes team.

Here is what Manny Diaz said about Miami when he was asked about his return:

“There's a great saying that 'no man crosses the same river twice before he's not the same man and it's not the same river' and that's really the way I look at it. I've grown. I'm different as a coach, as a head coach and as a man than when I was at Miami. Certainly, the program is in a different place, by every metric, from when I was there. So I'm at peace, I've moved on. We still go down there a lot.”

Manny Diaz was Miami’s head coach from 2019 through 2021. He had a 21-15 record and was fired after the 2021 season.

Diaz has his Duke Blue Devils team as a contender to finish near the top of the ACC this season, as they are 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

Let me counter (no pun intended) his deep thoughts with this deep paraphrase:

“He came, he failed, he left.” - unknown thespian

He may be at peace, I am not. May the Cane Gods forever haunt his ***. Worse POS to ever dawn our colors. He’s not a Cane, never was, never will be. Was not qualified for UM job, got it as a favor to his Dad. Set program back for years, destroyed relationships with local HS coaches, pushed alumni away, let the inmates run the asylum because he lacked leadership skills and brought us the Turnover Chain. The single most selfish piece of evidence that represents his tenure. Thank God Mario threw it in the garbage can on day one.

I could be wrong, but objectively I thought Shannon was worse as a HC. I remember it being also said that he destroyed relationships with S FL high school coaches. He had three out of four quarterbacks transfer within a five month period. He lost to S Florida in his final game.

He said what he is supposed to say.

Everyone knows it would mean a lot to him as it would for anyone.

He was the worse than Golden in my opinion. Golden actually brought in some decent classes and beat Florida. He just had a fixation with Dorito. Manny might have beat FSU twice but some of the worst losses in program history were during his tenure among other things.
