Even though the 76ers lost 117-105 to the Miami Heat, former Miami Hurricanes player Lonnie Walker was the top scorer for the 76ers, and even hit his highest score of the season with the squad.

Walker, a former standout with the Hurricanes in college, was a first-round draft pick by the Spurs, joined the Celtics during the summer but was released before the season began. The former Mr. Basketball from Pennsylvania has also played for the Lakers and Nets. Recently, he inked a two-year contract worth $3 million with the Philadelphia 76ers.

In today's game, despite the loss, Lonnie scored a season-high 29 points, making 10/18 shots from the field. He also hit 3/4 free throws and contributed with two assists and one rebound in 40 minutes of play.

Before playing with the 76ers this season he spent time in the Euroleague where he played for the Zalgiris Kaunas. During his time there he averaged 13.6 points, dished out about 1.8 assists, and grabbed three rebounds per game.

At Miami, Walker made quite an impact as he was named an Honorable Mention All-ACC, becoming the first freshman in the school's history to snag all-league honors. He played in all 32 games, starting in 18 of them, and led the team with an average of 11.5 points per game. He’s the first freshman to top Miami’s scoring since Darius Rice back in 2000-01, and only the fourth player ever to do it in the program's history.
