For awhile, 3-star ATH Kenny Logan was only getting interest from low Power 5 programs. That was until the Hurricanes came through with an offer last month and changed his recruitment.
“I got my Miami offer back in January. I was just very excited. It was my first big Power 5 offer so it was a big deal.”
Logan’s junior year at Pedro Menendez in St. Augustine saw him take on a versatile role, lining up at a few different positions to take full advantage of his athletic ability.
“I kind of played all over: WR, DB, QB, whatever it took to help the team win. We went 8-4, lost to Baker County in the playoffs.”
Even though he has experience at a few positions and is listed on recruiting sites as an athlete, Miami is currently recruiting Logan as a DB and he is getting a tag team effort from two of the Canes best recruiters: Ephraim Banda and Todd Hartley.
“I hear from coach Banda and coach Hartley a lot,” said Logan. “We’re building a good relationship.”
Miami isn’t the only school coming after Logan, though.
“I’m also hearing from UCF and Minnesota, mainly. Georgia Tech is showing interest, too.”
Last Saturday, Logan was a part of Miami’s huge unofficial visit weekend featuring numerous top targets the coaches are trying to get on board for Surge19. He talked about what visiting “the U” was like.
“It was great,” said Logan. “They showed us all around campus, we went to the basketball game (vs. Syracuse), saw the academic buildings. They walked us by the indoor practice facility construction too, it will be done by the time I’d get to campus.”
So, it was safe to say Logan enjoyed his time in Coral Gables.
“Yeah, I can see myself there, I definitely want to take an official there,” Logan said. “I would call them (Miami) my leader at this point.”
Even more interesting? Logan is good friends with the Canes most recent commit, WR Jeremiah Payton, who committed to Miami on the same visit and announced it on Twitter on Tuesday. The two have even talked about playing together at the next level.
“We had talked about him committing for a while, it was the right time for him,” said the 6’0” 180 pound Logan. “We were both excited (when Payton committed), he was trying to get me to join him.”
When asked when he’d be ready to join Payton on the Canes commit list, Logan had this to say: “I’ll just say that I’m close, it’s coming soon.”
