Miami wants to be in the ACC Championship this year, so they grabbed one of the standout starters from that game: Louisville LB Jaylin Alderman. LB coach Derek Nicholson recruited the 6'1, 230-pound native of Valdosta, Georgia, and used that prior connection to snare Alderman from the Portal.
Alderman, who has two years of eligibility, started every game for Louisville in 2023 and posted 58 tackles, 7 TFLs and 1.5 sacks. He played over 600 snaps for a Cardinals defense that allowed 22.9 points per FBS game and finished ranked several spots ahead of Miami nationally (37th to 49th). Alderman was a lightly recruited three star out of Valdosta, GA, but quickly made waves with his instincts, energy and IQ.
His signature play was his game-winning pick 6 as a freshman against UCF.
Alderman joins Francisco Mauigoa, Wesley Bissainthe and Popo Aguirre in what should be one of the top LB groups in the ACC.
