After last week’s loss against Killian, 2014 Homestead WR Ermon Lane felt that his team needed to bring more focus and intensity to practice. That paid off tonight, as the Broncos pulled off a huge 14-0 win over the favored Southridge Spartans.
“We worked harder this week, we wanted it more, and we got that outcome, the W. We had to go hard in practice. Me, Edwin Berry, and Markel Foster had to push the team and we came out with the win.”
Homestead’s game plan was to run the ball right at the Southridge defense, so Lane wasn’t really involved on the offensive side of the game. But he knows that great players can impact the game in many ways. He had a crucial interception from the safety position when Southridge was driving deep into Homestead territory.
“I play a little bit of defense normally, but they needed me out there tonight and I stepped up and was a leader.”
This past Saturday, September 1st, schools could start contacting juniors again.
“Florida talked to me, UM called me, and Florida State.”
One of Lane’s closest friends, Herb Waters, is a freshman at Miami.
“That won’t really affect my decision, but that’s like my best friend.”
Lane noted that he saw the ‘Canes game against BC last week and liked how a lot of young players were playing for Miami. The top-rated receiver also knows the type of offense he would like to play in at the college level.
“I like a pro-style offense with fast tempo.”
