The future was on display on Saturday, as five-star freshman DT Justin Scott overpowered the FAMU interior line for the first sack of his career. He met with reporters to discuss his progress.

On what allowed him to play early: Just having Coach JT, a Hall of Famer, one of the main reasons why I chose the program. He coaches me on all the little small things. But also having a lot of vets, Simeon Barrow, transfer from Michigan State, ‘Kheem (Mesidor), having those guys in front of me, just learning, watching the film, and seeing what they're doing, and applying it to my game.

On his first career sack: I just went out and played my game and it came to me. That was one thing Coach JT told me, just play my game. Even last week at Florida when I got in there for a few plays, just play my game and my game is gonna come to me. I just trusted what he said and it came to me.

On receiving early playing time: I feel like it's good that we’re getting in there. We’re learning from guys in front of us, getting in the playbook and doing the right stuff early. I feel like for both of us (Scott and Jordan Lyle), we’re keeping our head down and trying to get our games better.

On Jason Taylor coaching when he could be doing other things: That shows that he wants to be there. Miami's where he wants to be. He went to the league, he made all that money. So that's just showing his passion. He wants to coach and just spread his knowledge to the rest.

You need to move on from mentioning the previous staffs! Because, your not applying context to your staff. The previous staffs didn't have as many coaches and assistant as Mario has now. They also weren't getting top 10 money and resources Mario is no getting at Miami. Now ex HC and staff was getting this!

He has to basically carry every position each cycle that’s literally the cold hard truth to it. Pause

I think Beard is an elite technique coach. He can get the most out of the talent he has. I don’t think he’s up there in recruiting though. It’s not a terminal diagnosis, at least he’s elite at one aspect of coaching. However, I think he might need someone to help close. I don’t know if Cristobal can sell to WRs as well has can to other positions. We need a sniper at the offensive skill positions. Or just put aside a pot of money to buy a top WR in the portal. Not ideal but it is what it is.

Yea once we missed JS we may have to find a recruiter there eventually. I know athletes say the right things about position coaches but when do they ever say the wrong things? I’m hoping we upgrade the back end big time so it can be a true Miami team and upgrade the skill guys. I am assuming by 26 we can get there maybe?
