Could add one more on top of SS.
With our returning players, new recruits and portal additions our fall practices will look like a JV football practice. I believe we have to cut 6-8 before Fall ball.

Someone with far more knowledge than me, will this team with all the departures and additions, look better, worse, or the same as the ****** season last year?

Not sure how much more knowledge I’ve got, but the lineup should be better. I won’t say we’re not (that’s a ton of negatives) going to miss Blake, but… he only played in like 20 games last year - so the additions should outweigh what we got out of the 3rd OF spot after he got hurt. And between this kid and hopefully the Indiana St. ss, we’re definitely better than urso/Jimenez.

Question (BIG one) still remains on arms. Maybe we get lucky with one or two of the high school kids, but we were bad last year (outside of Gage) and it doesn’t look like anything we’ve added is much more than filler.

You think the arms we've added have been good enough for the mid-weeks or even then are we still lacking mid-week arms?

we still expecting Diaz? Why hasnt he been announced
I don't think him coming here is 100% guaranteed. Haven't seen any other site saying he's coming here.

I also know he's waiting to see where he gets drafted, believe NIL will be a factor to whether or not he comes back.

I’m waiting for the dust to settle after signing day of draft and most UDFA sign.

The UDFA market is more robust than in the past because draft is shorter and more teams are assessing where they need org. depth after their draft picks and the big wave of players they release after the draft.

I’ll take a look at everything and project moving forward after we see more clarity on actual roster (not that I’m some foremost authority or anything).

It’s clear to me they’re adopting the Tennessee model on pitching, where a starter is only expected to go one time through the order and then they have a myriad of arms to bring in at that point. The bullpen is deep- as constructed - and could be expected to cover a lot of bridge innings that were a struggle last year.

They’re looking at it as a puzzle where the ultimate goal is composite results and notsomuch starters needing big innings like they did it this year because depth was nonexistent.

Short answer: yes, I expect the ultimate product to be better because I don’t expect them to be so poor in mid-week games with all the depth arms added and a deeper lineup able to feast on opponent middle relief in midweek games.

Not sure we could look much worse than this past season. Cautiously optimistic we're moving in the right direction...
