There may not be a more complete prospect in Miami’s class than DE Hayden Lowe. The 6’4, 250-pound Los Angeles native combines size, motor, athleticism and production (16 sacks as a senior). He went to the same high school (Oaks Christian) as top 5 pick Kayvon Thibodeaux, and many believe their games are comparable.

Lowe, a four-star prospect, is the #3 EDGE nationally according to 247 Sports. He chose the Canes over USC.

Huge signing. Are we going to be a 4-3 moving forward or what? I want my big DE’s to be pushing the QB not dropping back into coverage

Nobody really plays a 4-3 or 3-4 anymore because of these offenses. You are in nickel majority of the time

Isnt nickel in a 4-3 just taking a linebacker and replacing them with a DB? I just meant are we going to keep 4 down linemen
As far as 4 down linemen probably so but looking at the d-linemen we have a 3-3-5 probably wouldn’t be a bad idea with all these undersized DEs

Do we have the NT bodies to really run a. 3-3-5 tho?

The answer is basically Yes. Because of the prevalence of spread type offenses, most modern defensive coordinators now, will use an extra DB type kid, and the defenses have kinda "morphed' into mostly some sort of 4-2-5, or 3-3-5 as (base defenses), which both honestly have their roots in "nickel". The front 6 or 7 will typically line up a little differently from their predecessors, but it's more or less the same.

Moten and jones. But I don’t think jones will be ready for major pt next year so no we dont. But I think you could find a couple NT in the portal. They won’t be elite guys but guys who could contribute. We need more big bodies regardless of what we run

Good looks. I personally like sticking with 4 down even in nickel. If you have a nickel like Damari who can play in the box then fine with 3 down, but I don’t think we have the bodies on DL for the 3 down personally. You’d want a 6’4 325+ at NT and a 6’4 275 DE’s. Is mcconothy gunna be that size? I know Bain is there weight wise. Justin Scott I can see fitting that big DE roll

I believe we actually had 3 LB on field much more this year than last season…Probably because we couldn't find anyone to play a decent NB for us.

Yeah probably, if you're gonna use it as your base defense, but even if your guys don't have ideal size, there are things you can do to help if you know what the **** you're doing as a DC. You can stem (pre snap movement along the DL to confuse OL blocking assignments), slanting, pinching, bringing a LB or 2 on occasion, bringing pressure from different angles, etc.
