Harris Wants to Play QB In College

2014 Booker T. Washington QB Treon Harris had a great performance that led his team to victory against highly ranked Cedar Hill (Tx.) on
Saturday, as he combined for four touchdowns with two in the air and two on the ground.

“The season is going good, we are still trying to get back to states.”

One of Booker T’s main goals this year is to not only get back to states but also go undefeated from this point out.

“We are expecting to go undefeated from now on, no more losing.”

While Harris is focused on the season, he is keeping track of his recruitment and is in contact with some schools.

“I have been talking to Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Illinois, Alabama and USC.”

Harris has a serious interest in Miami, being that his father and two brothers, Brandon Harris and Thearon Collier, went there.

“I like the school, I like the offense and the coaches.”

There have been a lot of questions regarding where his position is in college but Harris knows what he wants.

“I want to play quarterback.”

While Harris does have many connections to Miami, he does admit it will not be a strong factor in his recruitment.

“It doesn’t really affect me, I just follow what my mind tells me.”

The 2014 Quarterback doesn’t have a list of schools he is interested in or any visits planned soon, but he does know what he will look for.

“The offense and the coaching staff.”

The Booker T. product speaks with Al Golden and Michael Barrow and had high remarks for both.

"I like both of them they sound really cool and nice. Al Golden sounds really nice.”

Can someone explain the Collier/Harris relationship? Brandon and Thearon weren't brothers.

I never new Ice was Thearon's Dad. Why couldn't he keep him on the straight and narrow? Kid had tremendous talent. He would be in the NFL. How many kids leave a school like Miami and get another shot at a place like USC?

My bad, ICe isn't Thearon's father., had a brain fart. I fixed the post

A bit of Info about Treon:
I spoke to someone close to Harris, and he says that he is truly unsure about where he wants to go right now, but that both of his parents are pushing Miami.

I also have some thoughts about his position quote as well. I am well aware that Treon is only 5'10 or 5'11 and he isn't your prototypical QB, but if you watch him live you might change your thoughts. The kid has talent, he has a great arm and throws a good ball, uses his feet well, and can make plays outside the pocket. While he does have one big knock so far which I like to call "Jacory Syndrome", when he just throws the ball up for grabs without even thinking. IMHO there is no reason why you don't bring him in. You bring him in, you work him olut at QB, if it doesn't work, switch him. I am personally very tired of watching kids like Denard Robinson, Teddy Bridgewater, Geno Smith, Rakeem Cato and Ricardo Louis leave the state just because we see them at a different position. I am aware some of those guys were offered but chose not to come but I believe that everyone here regrets not taking Denard Robinson.

Good post, Tito.

The worst reason to lose a talented player is because you want to force him into a different position. Let him try it out, and if it doesn't work, move him. I don't think Harris is a special athlete but he is definitely a good athlete and football player who could influence his peers.

Agreed. Get talent in no matter what. I am tired of seeing kids who we told no go elsewhere and ball. Some even end up switching positions anyway and still ball at the very position we wanted them at.

Treon cant play QB here. He is an excellent football player, but he isnt a Miami QB

We wanted Teddy at QB. I know we didnt go after Geno but that was a bad evaluation not that we wanted him at another position. Cato is at Marshall so it seems like we weren't alone in his eval

I dont exactly see us ignoring SoFla QBs with the exception of Geno.

I dont understand if we are just suppose to lie to kids and then just switch them. We will let you waste a year at QB and then we will switch your position or you can transfer. I am not exactly a big fan of that approach either.

If Treon is 100 percent committed to being a QB and doesnt not want to play another position than he can go somewhere else. Now if he wants a shot at it and if he cant cut it he is open to switching positions than that is certainly a different story.

Here we again ,letting another good player ie.... Geno go some where else and tear it up. Yes I supported Coach Shannon but I hated his perception that certain position players have to be a certain size. Play makers and ballers come i all different shapes and sizes, denard , and wilfork are two good examples. I don't blame Treon ,this kid is a qb!!!

unfortunately Geno was the most talented one. Had size and threw a beautiful ball. Out of all the Qb we missed out on he would of fit the system the best. SMDH. Guess we can watch him go to NY playing for another team.

These ideas that "x" can't play QB here are misguided. I once read this about Denard Robinson.

This guy named Russel Wilson is now playing on Sunday's.

Those guys don't have ideal height or physical traits, but they are better than anything we've had here in a looooooooong time.

On a similarly related note, the size argument has been brought up about CBs as well.

Hosely and Janoris send their regards from the league.

I've played against tons of pussies with ideal measurables.

Someone needs to talk about this kid about the potential money he would be losing by playing QB instead of CB. The NFL ain't taking a 5'10 spread QB. Even if they do, they sure won't be giving him a big money contract. not happening. If this kid wants an NFL future and wants to take care of his family....play corner imo.

Its not about size. Wilson is a pass first QB.

Treon Harris is a run first QB. I know he is throwing better this season. A lot of his passes depend on his teammates just being better athletes. He is a heck of a football player. He isnt a Miami QB.

Must get imo. Sanctions might not scare this kid like it does others, because of the connections.

Protect the 305.
