Ed Reed is returning to the sidelines.

The Hurricanes legend and NFL Hall of Famer is going to be the offensive coordinator for Chamblee High School in the greater Atlanta, GA area.

Reed's son, Edward Reed III will be a senior next season and plays on both sides of the ball. Reed's former Ravens teammate Jamal Lewis is the recruiting coordinator for the high school. Lewis's son, Jazz, was a standout receiver as a freshman this season for Chamblee.

Reed has work to do, as Chamblee went 2-9 this past season. Reed was previously assistant DB coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2016, while being on the Miami Hurricanes staff from 2020-2022 as chief of staff and senior football advisor.

Recruiting. Coordinator. For. The. High. School.

Wild times.

That thread title is very misleading. I thought he was hired as DB coach to replace Jackson and was immediately a little skeptical.

As always, former players of their stature often have a tough time becoming a full-time coach because to do it right, it requires lots of hours in coaching, patience and dealing with off-field stuff.
Stuff that Hall-of-Famers don't need to do for the remainder of their lives.
But it turns out many of the former players enjoy coaching their kids.
Good for them and especially Reed.
