The Canes landed one of the most athletic DL in Florida with the signing of DT Mykah Newton. The staff loves the upside of the 6'3, 265-pound Newberry, FL product, who combines production (36 sacks), growth potential and twitch. Newton has a massive lower body and is young for his grade.
Miami believes that he will retain his twitch as he moves inside from DE, and he is a high-academic kid with a nonstop motor. As a senior, Newton made 60 tackles, 21 TFLs and 9 sacks. For his career, he accumulated 212 tackles, 66 TFLs and 36 sacks.
The three-star prospect plays all over the DL for Newberry and chose the Canes over NC State.
