Few in South Florida have more upside than Miami signee DT Donta Simpson.

The 16-year-old Simpson is currently listed at 6'4, 295, but may be closer to 310 by the time he enrolls at Miami. After showing flashes as a young-for-his-grade junior, Simpson has dominated the offseason circuit. At the Under Armour Camp, Simpson’s 7.05 L-Drill time was the fastest in the nation among OL/DL, showcasing his change of direction. He also put on a show at Miami's recent camp, outperforming older and more higher-ranked players to earn a scholarship offer.

As a junior, Simpson made 43 tackles (19.5 TFL), 7.5 sacks, 3 FF, 2 FR and a took a pick to the house for the state champions. The three-star prospect chose Miami over Maryland.

wtf are you americans giving your children to eat, **** it lol

He’s a little young… but if he’s 300 already, this is exactly the type of kid you bring in. I’m honestly not sure what our scheme will be next year, but with all the RPO/spread offenses out there, would love the flexibility of a 3-2-6 in our toolbox. To make that work, you need 3 SEC size linemen up front (must be 300 (preferably 325)) across the line and you need some bigger safeties that can help in run defense when they audible to run against that defense (think James Williams). Those types of guys would also be the ones to pick up wheel routes and RBs out of the backfield.

We won’t roll that out next year, but I would love to see it.
