After being committed to Miami since the spring, Atlantic’s Keith Bryant’s de-committed on December 5th. Bryant is still sorting things out before he makes his announcement on January 5th at the Army All-American game. Bryant says he doesn’t feel much difference between being committed and now.
“It’s not really different at all. As a matter of fact, I de-committed from a school that I’m like .1% unsure about. I’m feeling Miami, but I want to make sure it’s 100% what I wanna do.”
There was a report after he de-committed that Bryant had Miami running in third after FSU and South Carolina.
“I don’t know who made that. That’s not true.”
Some have speculated that the NCAA cloud looming over Miami’s head is one of the reasons Bryant de-committed, but he says that’s not the case.
“I don’t really care about that stuff. I’m just trying to see my best fit and where I’m most comfortable at.”
When asked what sticks out to him about Florida State, Bryant said, “Everything.”
The senior defensive tackle also says he’s not worried about the possibility of a loaded Florida State defensive line.
“I’m a baller and I’m gonna ball.”
Something that has been interesting to watch is the banter on Twitter between Florida State and Miami fans over Bryant.
“That’s just how it is anyway. They’re always going back-and-forth arguing. I just read some stuff because honestly some of it is true.”
Bryant will be participating in the Army All-American game on Saturday, January 5th. He’s going out to San Antonio with a chip on his shoulder.
“I’m just trying to show them who the best D-Tackle is. I have a lot of respect for them other boys and what they do, but I’m just trying to put that out there why I should be a 5-star.”
Some fans haven’t been amused by Bryant’s comments about him wanting to play with his Atlantic teammates, but he defends his words when it comes to that.
“I take pride in that because you never know what can happen. Me promoting them like that might give them the shot at something big. They have offers, but everybody has their dream school.”
Not many people know that Bryant has a daughter, Kaniyah, who is 18 months old. Kaniyah is major motivation for him on-and-off the field.
“It pushes me a lot because I want her to be able to relax later in life. It’s really not hard for me to take care of her because I have a good supports system with my parents, my brother, and her mom and grandmother.”
Bryant says he will be visiting Florida State on January 11th and that it’s possible he takes a visit to Miami on January 18th.
