TE Standish Dobard has been committed to Miami since April and has been one of the most solid pledges to the ‘Canes. Dobard’s Karr High School team will be playing for the Louisiana 4A State Championship game this Friday.
“I’m just ready to get out there and play. It’s not that I’m really excited, I’m just ready to win.”
Dobard feels as though he’s taken strides in a few different aspects of his game this season.
“I think I’ve improved on my route running, speed, and blocking.”
Miami isn’t necessarily a school that takes kids from Louisiana on a consistent basis, so why has Dobard been so loyal to the ‘Canes?
“I love Miami so much that I don’t see myself at another college. I’ve been a Miami fan since I was young and that’s not just because of the players they used to have. It’s about the coaches that are there now and the players they have and I think I can go in there and play with them. I just love Miami so much and I want to get there and play.”
The senior standout gave his thoughts on the season Miami had.
“Their season was surprising because I know how young the team is, but they still played good. I can understand why they took the bowl away from themselves.”
Offensive Coordinator Jedd Fisch has some told Dobard they plan to use him in some creative ways.
“They tell me they’re gonna flex me out as a receiver and things like that.”
One of the hot button topics down the recruiting stretch for Miami is the recruitment of Defensive End Tim Williams, who is somebody that Dobard is familiar with as they are both from Louisiana.
“I can’t speak for Tim Williams, but I know that’s my boy and he’s gonna take an official to Miami. I can’t speak on his recruitment, only on mine. I’m in his ear and we’re going on the same official.”
Dobard says that the two plan on making their trip to Miami sometime in January.
