Dobard Loves Miami

TE Standish Dobard has been committed to Miami since April and has been one of the most solid pledges to the ‘Canes. Dobard’s Karr High School team will be playing for the Louisiana 4A State Championship game this Friday.

“I’m just ready to get out there and play. It’s not that I’m really excited, I’m just ready to win.”

Dobard feels as though he’s taken strides in a few different aspects of his game this season.

“I think I’ve improved on my route running, speed, and blocking.”

Miami isn’t necessarily a school that takes kids from Louisiana on a consistent basis, so why has Dobard been so loyal to the ‘Canes?

“I love Miami so much that I don’t see myself at another college. I’ve been a Miami fan since I was young and that’s not just because of the players they used to have. It’s about the coaches that are there now and the players they have and I think I can go in there and play with them. I just love Miami so much and I want to get there and play.”

The senior standout gave his thoughts on the season Miami had.

“Their season was surprising because I know how young the team is, but they still played good. I can understand why they took the bowl away from themselves.”

Offensive Coordinator Jedd Fisch has some told Dobard they plan to use him in some creative ways.

“They tell me they’re gonna flex me out as a receiver and things like that.”

One of the hot button topics down the recruiting stretch for Miami is the recruitment of Defensive End Tim Williams, who is somebody that Dobard is familiar with as they are both from Louisiana.

“I can’t speak for Tim Williams, but I know that’s my boy and he’s gonna take an official to Miami. I can’t speak on his recruitment, only on mine. I’m in his ear and we’re going on the same official.”

Dobard says that the two plan on making their trip to Miami sometime in January.

My goodness I wish some of the guys who actually lived within an hour or 2 of coral gables could learn something from him

The Anti Keith Bryant.
Love this kid and love his boy Tim Williams as a DE. Looks real good for us that Dobard is visiting with Williams and will be in his ear the whole time.

Maybe it's because I only follow Miami recruiting closely, but why does it seem like Miami kids/parents have no loyalty to the hometown/team?

I think if UM were a big public school with its own stadium they'd get whoever the F they wanted and have hometown loyalty. The small private, non-college atmosphere without huge numbers really hurts with a lot of the attention whores that play football now. Just my opinion though. There are several other factors I'm sure.

Always been the nature of Miami just like it is in Los Angeles or most other big cities.
Win and they love you. Struggle and they start loving something else. Just ask Mario Cristobal.
Our empty stadiums nowadays tell you all you need to know. I remember going to the Knight Center to watch UM basketball back in the 90's and my dad my bro and I composed half the crowd.

When we get nationally relevant local parents will be paying us just to consider their kids.

In time I expect more of these kids to echo this type of attitude...golden will continue to get true miami "guys" not afraid to compete, earn time, and dare to be great...not try to secure schollys for their boys

Mark it down this kid will be a first round draft pick in the 2016 draft

You gotta love the enthusiasm. Enthusiasm means good attitude, and translates into a hard working man.

Mighty glad he's a Cane, and is the antithesis of a few local kids who are dumber than siht.
