Devante Peete breaks down his top three schools

St. Thomas Aquinas head coach Rocco Cassullo has made it known that he encourages his seniors to narrow down their list of favorite schools to at least a top five by the time fall practice rolls around.

Cassullo does this so that his players are not distracted during the season. In keeping with Coach Cassullo's preferences, 2015 wide receiver Devante Peete has done just that.

On Monday, Peete told me his finalists are, Ohio State, Miami, and Louisville.

"Those three schools are the ones that have just been in contact with me more than anyone and I like that," said Peete.

Ohio State has been on Peete for a long time and has made him one of their top targets he says.

"When I talk to Ohio State I talk to (wide receivers coach) Zach Smith. He's a really great guy and he is always checking in with me. He always checks in to make sure I'm on the right track and stuff like that."

Then there is the hometown Hurricanes that have been interested in Peete since his ninth grade year at Blanche Ely.

"At Miami, it's coach Carroll that I mainly talk to. I've known him since ninth grade. We always kick it when I go down to the campus. He tells me he likes my size and my ability on the field."

Louisville has been able to recruit Florida very well in recent years and that is something that has stuck out to Peete.

"I talk to Louisville a lot. They really started on me in the spring and they text me a lot and, always check in to see what I'm doing."

One thing that is going to be important in Peete's decision is where his parents are comfortable with the coaches and that they know he is in good hands.

"My parents really like Miami. I've been camping there since my freshman year and I've just got a great relationship going with those guys. It's close to home and (parents) and that's playing a big role in the recruiting process."

Peete notes that 2015 commit Jordan Scarlett and 2016 commit Sam Bruce, his teammates, joke around with him a lot about him joining them in Coral Gables possibly.

"In the end, It's just going to come down to where I feel most comfortable at. Stuff like the campus, the coaches, and where I think I will be able to get to the next step," said Peete.

** Peete is trying to work out a way for him to attend U-Day on Sunday, August 10.

** Plans on taking all five official visits after his season.

My man. The sun is finally shining.

Listen to your parents. Make it easy for them to attend games.

I thought for certain he was FSU bound. Muy bueno.

Imo, it wouldn't be wise to take both Gosier and Peete. Both of these guys are extremely raw and won't be ready to contribute anytime soon. You take 1 to roll the dice....both is really overdoing it. I would rather have Gosier because he better translates to other positions if WR doesn't work out.

Gosier just started playing football. Peete is a lot more ready and has a lot more experience. Some believe Peete can grow into a TE (not saying he will be put there).

AGREE. considering our current depth at WR & the recruiting of the position for the 2016 class, i wouldn't waste scholarships on projects at the position.

True but that's not saying much....Peete for all of his experience, still looks incredibly raw. I honestly don't get the hype he's getting on here. 100% this kid will have no choice but to redshirt wherever he ends up. I prefer to have immediate impact guys at WR.

I hate losing kids to FSU, UF, or Alabama, and it ****es me off even worse to see them go to LSU but it really, REALLY chaps my *** to see SoFla kids going to Ohio State. It seems flat out insane to me.

Said it before I'll say it again. Peete > Gossier. Peete has better hands and is quicker. Gossier is a big project.

Peete's GPA is a 2.5 for those who had questions about his grades.

if our WR play like we think we wont need an immediate impact from peete or Gosier

why do I prefer to have immediate impact guys?

Why does Bama continue to recruit 5 star after 5 star at the same position?

you're saying u wouldn't take Peete b/c in your opinion he's not an immediate impact WR. if our WR depth is to the point where we don't need an immediate impact from a freshman WR why not take Peete and give him the time to develop?

there's no guarantee that he will develop. I think you should always try to recruit guys that you feel can beat out who's already on the roster. That's how you build championship depth. Always go for the sure thing if given the choice imo.

Although STA is usually pro miami, one thing to note is that STA WR coach and HOfer Cris Carter is extremely pro OSU for obvious reasons....
