Could this be the game that Damien Martinez breaks out?

When Damien Martinez signed with Miami in the offseason, Hurricanes fans recognized he was one of the top running backs in the portal. This upcoming game against California could be where he breaks loose and has a big game.

Martinez has a great track record against California when he was at Oregon State, as he ran all over them last year when he went for 89 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown. In 2022, he ran for 105 yards on 23 carries.

Martinez has rushed for 250 yards on 54 carries for four touchdowns, we saw glimpses of him in the Florida, FAMU, and Virginia Tech games as he ran for more than 50+ yards each contest. He has not yet had a 100-yard game this season and is looking to make this his first on Saturday.

Nobody is breaking out running the plays we run…hard to break out running into the centers backside ( pause) on every running play…..I’d like to blame this on Dawson but it’s been this one same play through 3 OC with one constant…need a hint who that might be.

funny part is even on Lyle’s long TD run. The only reason it happened was because the linebacker cheated into the hole and he bounced it outside.

Agreed. The linebacker was probably where the run was designed to go but Lyle used his eyes and made an executive decision to go wide.

If it’s up the middle all game, no. If we mix it up with some runs off tackle, maybe.
I can't understand why we saw so much variety in the run game week 1 at UF and it's bogged down to just runs up the middle again.
