Columbus -Belen Analysis

For the eighth year in a row, Columbus defeated Belen in their annual rivalry. This was nowhere near a close contest by a final score of 49 to 3.
Notes

-2013 WR Jesus "Bobo" Wilson is arguably the most productive wide receiver in Dade County, There is no doubt in my mind this kid is going to be a playmaker when he gets to the D1 Level. Wilson can make any play and turn it into a big play. Wilson had two touchdown catches including one where he adjusted to the ball and beat the corner for the ball, then stretched across the goal line while being tackled to score a Touchdown. Wilson is very solid to FSU and Miami likes him but at corner.

-2013 Daryl Chestnut is begininning to turn his critics. During the High School Show Podcast we had I chose Daryl Chestnut as my sleeper prospect who Miami should keep an eye on. Chestnut is having superstar games every week by averaging over a hundred yards and at least two touchdowns a game. Here is the interesting part; I spoke to someone close to the Miami program that says if Chestnut continues to have performances like this, he could be hearing from Miami soon.

-2013 RB Lorenzo Woodley ran for three touchdown's today and showed Belen what they missed out on when he transferred out his freshman year. Woodley had two touchdowns inside the goal line, where he broke several tackles and then a forty yard touchdown where he ran inside then bounced it outside. Woodley has all the tools to be a great running back. But it is a matter of the right coaching and putting all those tools together correctly that will determine his future.

2015 QB Tucker Beirne had a solid performance today by throwing over one hundred yards and two touchdowns. While Beirne did throw one interception, it was a dropped pass by the wide receiver. I have noticed that Beirne seems to have a tendency to force the ball on a deep route to a receiver when he isn't even open. While Beirne is only a Sophomore he does need to work on this because this caused him to throw two interceptions in the Aquinas game.

As For Belen

Belen looked like boy's among men during the game. They started off slow and couldn't get their offense going. While their performance was bad, do not discount Belen from possibly knocking off or scaring a Norhtwestern or Miami Central.

Is he just a back-up plan for Collins, or would they consider taking both?

Not a good Belen team this year....worst team I've seen them have in at least the last 6-7 years.....zero playmakers on offense and small on defense.

Yup, probably the weakest Belen team I've seen since the 2004 season. Talent and depth both lacking
