The National I-M-G 7 on 7 tournament was host to a large number of top ranked underclassmen in the nation. One of the many athletes was 2015 Miramar (Fla.) cornerback Tyrek Cole.

Cole was playing with the South Florida Express in the I-M-G tournament and fought hard to land in second place.

“It was nice time there, a lot of competition. We ended up going undefeated the first day there, but then ended up playing Team Tampa with George Campbell and they beat us twice.”

Cole values his time with the Express as he competes with so many other top prospects on a weekly routine such as Ermon Lane, Jojo Robinson,

“The competition better, it makes you wanna grind harder and play better and it raised your expectations for yourself.”

The 5’11 165 pounder’s phone is never dull as he is hearing from almost every school in the nation racking up recent offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Cincinnati and Washington State. While he does admit the recruiting process can be bothersome, he still enjoys it.

“It’s both bothering and fun. It’s not really bothering to me but the phone calls be like thirty minutes long, but it’s still cool.”

Cole is planning on heading up to another big event this summer, which is the Friday Night Lights event in Gainesville.

“Me, Andre Godfrey and Jef Hill are going to be heading up to Friday Night lights with the Gators. First, I wanna just see the buildings and coaching staff and just compete while there.”

Another Florida school that has been in constant contact with the Miramar secondary star is Miami.

“I talk to coach (Hurlie) Brown and coach Paul Williams the most. Coach Brown is a funny and nice guy and coach Paul is kinda like laid back type.”

The Miramar product is very familiar with a couple current Miami Hurricanes, including Jermaine Grace and Stacey Coley. Cole happens to have a very good moment with Coley as he matched up against him this past season.

“It was very intense, lot of competition and he is fast so I had to be at fastest. It was just fun. He is the best wide receiver I’ve ever gone up against.”

As for expectations for the hometown Hurricanes, Cole is predicting a big future for Miami.

“The ‘Canes are gonna be solid, the defense is gonna be solid and they have some good wideouts. So they’re gonna be pretty good.”

Coley is a fkin beast man might be better than Lane and I though Lane was better.

Whats the name of the tall safety (6'2 +) from Ft. Lauderdale, very aggressive? Can't remember his name, but he reminded me and others of Sean Taylor. Thanks in advance
