Miami junior defensive end Chad Thomas will return for his senior season, a source told CanesInSight.com.

Thomas has 5.5 career sacks as a Hurricane, including 4.5 this season -- which has been his best as a Cane. The former five-star out of Booker T. Washington in Miami has 33 total tackles, 19 solo, and 10.5 TFL this year to go along with the 4.5 sacks.

The source added that Miami defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski played a part in Thomas deciding to return for his senior year. The Hurricanes are expected to return a formidable front 7 next season with Thomas, fellow defensive ends Demetrius Jackson, Joseph Jackson, and Trent Harris; defensive tackles Kendrick Norton, R.J. McIntosh, Gerald Willis; and the three freshmen linebackers who started this season for Manny Diaz's group.

good decision, Coach Kool with another off sesaon with these guys def line should be even nastier

Expected but still reassuring. Makes it easier to sell JUCO CBs with stuff like this. Not only is playing time available but the front 7 will be stacked for you. Crown Kool, I will burn Hecht to the ground if we lose this guy to a lateral job move.

Glad to have him back. He disappeared after the UNC game.

Brad and David should be doing the same! Another year under this staff and an awesome recruiting class to bring in more enforcement. We can finally get some back on first team all something teams and sure fire high draft choices because of production and measurables.

Would've been a HUGE mistake. Good that he's listening to the right people.

5* croot with 5.5 career sacks declares that he is coming back for his senior year? I am thrilled. Will he play opposite Joe Jackson or back him up?

Doesn't he want to finish his music degree?

Wise move either way, he's not ready for the NFL if he has those aspirations.

Next year we will have one of, if not the best, defensive lines in college football. How far we've come in just 2 years.

He actually improved a lot this year. Could beast next season
