Miami Hurricanes center Matt Lee delved into the team's preparation for Saturday’s scrimmage and broke down the development of some of his teammates.

"It was our first day in full pads today. Super physical. But in the world of the O-line and D-line, whether it's just your shoulder pads or with the pants on, it's just another day out there."

The anticipation for the upcoming scrimmage at Hard Rock on Saturday is high among players. Lee shared, "This whole week has been geared towards that first scrimmage. We get our situations and game-time scenarios during practice, but there's something about a scrimmage that brings a different edge. Truly putting the ball down and playing is an experience you don't get a lot in camp."

Lee stressed the significance of unity within the core offensive line. "The bond continues to grow every single day. Especially incamp, we're together almost all day. That closeness, not just on the field but also in the locker room and meetings, fosters an environment where we thrive. The chemistry is undeniable."

Discussing individual match-ups, Lee offered praise for Leonard Taylor, mentioning their spirited practice battles. "It's been fun. LT's a talented player, big, strong, and active in the pass rush. Iron sharpens iron. Every day is an opportunity to grow and challenge each other."

Speaking on other players, Lee highlighted Branson Deen, who's been showcasing his skills throughout the Camp. "Branson is an experienced guy, smart on the defensive line, explosive, and very skilled with his hands." Lee continued, "He might not be the heaviest D-tackle, but he's certainly not small. His experience and intelligence in the game make him a force to reckon with."

When asked if senior tackle Zion Nelson has been practicing, Lee essentially confirmed that he has not been out there. “Zion’s been doing his thing. I don’t know, I can’t comment on that. I have no comment.”

Lee was excited about about Anez Cooper's progress, stating, "Coop is a big, imposing figure on the O-line. His growth from the spring to the fall has been commendable. Last year was his debut, and this year, I expect him to have a breakout season."

Lee also spotlighted Francis Maiugoa, who looks like the team’s starting right tackle as a true freshman, "Francis, since arriving in the spring, has displayed both physical and mental prowess beyond his age. He's extremely dedicated, intelligent, and has a strong on-field presence. He's definitely one to watch."

Lastly, Lee touched upon Ahmad Moten’s growth at defensive tackle, highlighting his mental transformation from January to August. "Ahmad has matured a lot, especially mentally. He has a great attitude and brings his best to practice daily."

Loving Lee being a Cane more every day. Great insights into some of the other players. Interesting he had "no comment " regarding Zion. 🤔 Well played.
Go Canes 🏈!!!

Is he? Why wouldn’t he have declared for the draft then instead of coming here?

That’s my big q with him and cohen. Expect them to be big improvements on the disaster we’ve had, but not sure if they’re as good as some here are making them out to be.
Yeah they'll both be drafted.

What ever happened to the center we got from Columbus, it’s been a couple years ???

Yes. Lee is a top 5 nfl center prospect for next draft according to scouts.

Cohen is more of a question on mental side. Complete stud on field, top 100 talent

Cohen Lee n Cooper in the middle can be a force in the ACC. When we head to UNC if we are able to run it down their throat n keep that QB on the sideline it would be huge.

It also helps that Harrell will keep safeties back.

I trust you know what you're talking about, but why are they here instead of the league?

Because they wanted to do more to solidify the highest their stock could possibly get. Lee wanted higher competition and Cohen probably just wanted/needed a change of scenery.
