The University of Miami men’s basketball team (4-13, 0-6 ACC) lost to the No. 3/3 Duke Blue Devils (15-2, 7-0 ACC), 89-54, Tuesday night at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Center Lynn Kidd recorded his third 20-point outing of the season with a team-leading 20 points. Freshman Austin Swartz joined him in double-figures with 11 points of his own.

Duke’s Kon Knueppel led all scorers with 25 points in the game.

Kidd was on fire early for the Hurricanes, scoring 10 of Miami’s first 12 points in the game. However, the Blue Devils could not miss from 3-point range, connecting on 11 threes in the first half alone.

Duke led by as much as 28 in the first half, but a 7-0 Miami run late in the frame cut the Blue Devils’ lead to 24, 50-26, heading into the halftime break.

The Hurricanes scored seven of the first nine points in the second half to cut the deficit to 19 at the first media timeout, but the Blue Devils responded with an 11-2 run to extend their lead to 28, 63-35, with 13:36 to play.

Duke ultimately outscored Miami, 39-28, in the second half to secure its seventh ACC win of the season.

Miami returns to the Watsco Center on Saturday, Jan. 18 to host the SMU Mustangs. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ESPNU.

This program is in worse shape than it's been in 30 years...

Forgot that there was a game last night. That's how far my interest has fallen. Wake me up when we have a new coach and new players.

Yeh, I am in Carolina. I have to deal with the Goobers/Hayseeds even in Raleigh. For the most part, we have been competitive to very good in the last 15 years. I only watch CBB because of the Canes.

Who is responsible for this? Coach L? For giving that Bu** S*** "I can't deal with the NIL" excuse. Was it our limp d*** AD for not pushing Coach L out because he is 200 years old? I get "Blue Bloods". But you can't tell me that a kid from South Florida or anywhere for that matter wants to come to a place like Durham, NC vs Miami because of tradition.

This is and always will be about money. Coach K and the others had boosters to pay for kids before the NIL. These phony's left because they couldn't control the recruit anymore.

Go find a coach who doesn't resemble Nosferatu and start biding for players. It's the game now. It's legal. Basketball is a revenue driver. I am not asking for a final four or eight. But for ***** sake, at least give me something I can watch.

The team is brown bags on head bad. Less 6 thread days on the game, more threads detailing different coaching options.

Come on. Less spam, more content. Please.
This. I love the work you're doing @Trinton Breeze , and the additional basketball coverage is much needed. However, this season is a complete lost cause. We'd rather you pour your time and effort into head coach options, the future of the program, etc, and much less about this pathetic excuse for a season.
