Cam Ward: “We can’t put ourselves in situations to have to come back”

For the second week in a row, Cam Ward led a heroic second-half comeback for the win. He met with reporters to discuss overcoming a 35-10 deficit and more:

On the travel: It really didn't affect me. I lived on the West Coast for two years, so it actually felt kind of nice to get back. The first night you get here, you really just have to go to sleep at 10. Once I got on that schedule, it was smooth.

On how they came back from 35-10: Just keep playing. Can't come back from 25 trying to get it in one drive. Just take it play by play. Have belief. When you’ve got the right guys on the team like we do, you can do some good stuff.

On his INT: I did it before and made the play. I did it tonight, too. Live by the sword, die by the sword. I just threw it too high. I knew as soon as it left my hand, I floated it. I’ve got to drill it home.

On the strategy: We really wanted to establish a running game. I think we did real good tonight. The O-line came up and played good the whole game. At the end of the day, we just had belief. The trenches are why we won the game today. Every time they do their job, they just make everybody else's job easier.

On the feeling after the big win: It feels good. I just believe God put us in this position to accomplish good things for the team. If you’ve got faith, it'll take you a long way. I just try to do my part. Everybody on this team has a job.

On the long pass to Restrepo on the final drive: That is a concept that we've been wanting to run more. We finally got the team that plays the right stuff to run it the way we run it. Because you can change the route anytime. X found the grass and he made a play, the O-line protected, and that got us started.

On the mentality going forward: At the end of the day, we’ve got a lot to clean up. I didn't play my best ball. Nobody played their best ball. We can't put ourselves in these situations to have to come back. That's two games straight we had to do that. We’ve got to lock in.

We're going to take it day by day. It's good to get a win. We're not going to complain. An ugly win is better than a good loss. We made enough plays to win the game, but we’ve got to get to work.

On Xavier Restrepo: I just think how he moves is different. I haven't had a receiver like this, the way he knows football like he does. He sees the space I see. When you’ve got a connection with somebody like I’ve got a connection with him and the rest of the receivers, it’s going to work out. Everything is about timing and ball placement. If we can keep on getting better at that, honing in on little things, we'll be able to make some more plays.

I don't really like the answer he gave for "On the INT". Hopefully he doesn't keep trying to do that throughout the season.
I think he was saying that the playcall/concept was sound and had worked before, he just missed the throw. Not gonna throw the baby out with the bathwater over one awful throw.

Hopefully that's the case.

History shows that teams that do this **** on the regular eventually get caught.

Also, is he an adult? No he's a kid. Not ready for the league coming out like he came out against Cal. He needs to be prepared for a change.

Don't ******* waste this season on not being prepared, locked in, or hero ball ****.

No he's talking about throwing back across his body like he did successfully earlier in the game to Horton (not 100% sure it was Horton). Pretty sure Dawson gonna disagree with him come film review on that play lol

We're very close to being an unranked 4-2 team with a weak schedule and huge NIL roster. At the moment, we're not as good as our ranking suggests. Just being real. They better tighten it up during the bye week and fix some ****.
I'm hoping Cam makes us look cool >>> Miami isn't all that great.... as far as croots go.
