Bush: I'm Really High on Miami Right Now

2014 Milton(Ga.) Quarterback A.J Bush (6’4 190lbs.) was a key part of his teams offense this year as he led his team to a 7-3 record.

“I felt I did pretty well considering we aren’t a pass first team. Whenever they needed me to make a pass, I made it and when they needed me to run I did it. So it was a pretty good season.”

While Bush had a good junior campaign he does want to improve one his game during the summer.

“I want to work on reading defenses, I love watching film so I want to learn what I can do to give my team a better advantage.”

Going into his senior season, the Milton product has a good list of schools he has been in contact with as of late.

“I have Auburn, they came up to see me recently, Tennessee as well as FSU.”

One school that truly piques Bush’s interest is Miami.

“Yeah I talk to Miami, they came up to see me a while ago I’m starting to get mail from them.”

Bush’s interest in Miami seems to be very strong and due to new offensive coordinator James Coley.

“Yeah I like Miami a lot, Now that they have Coach Coley, I really like him and I’m really high on Miami right now.”

Despite the coach Coley, he also likes the tradition Miami has in its program.

“I really like the tradition Miami has, as well as the fact that they work really hard. Plus, they always have speed at Miami.”

While Bush is still currently setting up his visits, he does want to make a trip down to Coral Gables.

“I want to go down to Miami for sure, but I have to get in touch with the coaches.”

Big body kid who seems more like a runner than anything right now. Same team as Peyton Barber (rb we were on last cycle). That read option mustve been a ***** to defend

D Money - what are your thoughts on taking a kid who is in a run-first offense in high school?

Typical lefty with the funky delivery but sheesh that's a big, athletic kid to work with. I like how he mentioned Coley.

Depends on the kid. Brett Favre ran the wishbone in high school.

Need to study this guy more but his size is the first thing that jumps out.

should I be thinking of EJ Manuel when I watch those highlights ?

from the little i have watched of them I would much rather have the local kid Alin Edoard over this kid from atlanta.

With QBs, I feel like highlight tapes are even less trustworthy than many other positions. I love Edouard's talent. He obviously has a big arm and some natural running ability. But, I look at his stats from this past season and he threw for something like 900 yards with 9 TDs and 9 INTs. That's a little worrisome. Then I look at Winky Flowers and he is undoubtedly dynamic with the ball in his hands and has the athleticism to translate to other positions if QB doesn't work out. But, he wants to play QB, and his stats tell me the threw for just over 1000 yards, but completed less than 50% of his passes.

I know HS stats are not even close to the end all be all when it comes to HS prospects and are the result of many factors (lack of coaching, poor talent around the player, bad system, etc.) but IMO they are important to look at, because just looking at Edouard's highlights, I thought he would've been dominant this season.

I want us to take 2 QBs in this class, I want one big time producer heady QB (like Sean White) and one dual threat athletic big time potential guy (like Edouard, Flowers, or this guy Bush). I hope the coaches go after the right ones

fookin ****!!!
so we have FSU's OC now, so say good bye to the pro style, say hello to spread offense

I never saw Edouard live, but Flowers's inconsistent stats can be directly attributed to what his team asked him to do. He had protection issues and was basically asked to make something incredible happen every time. That led to a lot of forced throws.

Hopefully, he hasn't developed bad habits. If you put him on a team like Booker T., he'd have huge numbers IMO.

there is no need to look out of dade and broward for QB's this year with edouard, winky, and sean white all down here

QB is the most important position on the field. You know when a coach leaves and you always go for the national search over just giving it to the top assistant? Same thing. Find the best guy that wants in, don't limit the search.

Uh the last time a team from Dade came up to Atlanta, they got raped by 30. Thats the one thing I wish the staff would do more is recruit Metro Atlanta. **** even Alvin Kamara loves the U along with a lot of other kids up here.

Depending on how our current QBs develop (Olsen, Dewey and Thompson) we may not be able to bring in 2 projects. I don't think it is smart to bring in 2 projects unless you are confident you have some polished players already on the roster.

If Morgan Mahalak shows any real interest, you definitely look at him.

not impressed with this kid. I agree that the SoFla QB's are better.

BUT...may be some attrition this year and a need to bring in two QB's. I'd go with Winky and a more traditional passer. I like Sean White and I hope he gets a full eval from Coley.
