Bobby Pruitt: I’ve improved in being “early on time”

When Miami’s third-down defense took the field early in the Duke game, there was a new number on the field. Bobby Pruitt (#22), a true freshman, is getting more and more snaps because of his speed and coverage ability. He met with reporters to discuss his progress:

On his improvement: Where I've improved the most as the season's gone along is being more vocal and being where I'm supposed to be at. Being early on time, being there first, being more vocal and just having fun with it, too. Being a better leader.

I’ve been following the older guys like Kiko, Wesley, Jay [Alderman], Chase Smith. All the seniors and leadership council, I just follow them around. Try to be in their pocket, try to do what they do and go work every day and give 100% every day.

On the progress of the young players: I see ourselves getting more reps. We have been working very hard. The whole team has been working very, very hard. We try and go one-on-one every day. We just try and prove ourselves and get better.

On his mindset after his fumble recovery:”I’ve got to score a touchdown.” It turns out I couldn’t make it, but it was a good turnover. Credit to the defensive line and my teammates for just being there, doing their job.
