Blake James spoke to the local media today to promote the opening of the brand new Schwartz Center.

After touching on a range of topics, like that he expects to hear word on our NCAA sanctions soon, he made known his desire for an indoor practice facility and lights for Greentree practice field. This would be the next step in terms of facility upgrades for our football program. See his whole press conference here:

#Canes AD Blake James on his wants for future: "Lit practice field, indoor practice facility, athletic dining component"

I'm in, as long as it seats a minimum of 50,000

We need one. Clemson and FSU just put one in, and we need one to keep our facilities on the upswing. Main thing though is for storms canceling practice.

I dont want a stadium. Use it for 6 or 7 days a year. The maintenance alone would kill us. We cant even afford a tent and lights for our practice facility. Let the Dolphins take that burden for us. Im happy renting the field.

Yup because when you own your own stadium you can only use it for 6 or 7 days a year.

Would also be useful for the Al Golden Camps. These camps are recruiting Gold for us so having the ability to prevent rainouts would be a huge plus.

Has anyone noticed how beat up the turf gets? When they're doing drills it's just ripping apart.

Yea...Track, soccer, year around practice events...I see adding a few more dates...again no place to build it

i thought Miami residents shouldve just agreed to help renovate Sun (or Son) Life Stadium.... Al Golden was disappointed. The graphic renderings where very impressive.... but they let a situation that has nothing to do with the Dolphins or Hurricanes, Marlin Stadium, effect their decision making.

It's an interesting idea, but where? I would imagine you'd have to take some of the current practice field space.

Just to put things in perspective on the cost of an indoor facility. Here's a list of ACC schools that have indoor facilities or in the renovations phase of there facility...

1) FSU - $15 Million Dollars - 92,000 Sq ft
2) Syracuse - $17 Million Dollars - 87,000 Sq ft
3) Clemson - $10 Million Dollars - 80,000 Sq ft
4) Duke - $22 Million Dollars - 70,000 Sq ft
5) G Tech - $7 Million Dollars - 88,000 Sq ft
6) Virginia - $13 Million Dollars - 78,000 Sq ft

Im sure those will really put butts in the seats and pay for the costs to maintain it. Again, its a dumb investment for us. The Dolphins cant even take care of their own stadium with a billion behind it.
