2026 4-star OT Ben Congdon announced his commitment to the University of Miami on X Monday Night.

“All about the U! Canes family let’s go to work,” said Congdon in his announcement post.

The 6-foot-7 Ohio product took an unofficial visit to Coral Gables earlier in the day and spoke highly of the program as a whole.

"I've really connected with Coach Mirabal and Coach Cristobal both over the last few months with me visiting them and them visiting me," Congdon said. "I really love the OL base team and coaches such as Cristobal and how well Coach Mirabal develops people like me."

Congdon becomes the fourth commit for Miami in the 2026 class as the cycle continues to heat up. The Hurricanes beat competition from over 30 schools, specifically Penn State who he had an official visit set with.

Cristobal & co. continue to demonstrate their prowess with recruiting offensive lineman, and they hope to continue through the 2026 class with Congdon committed and interest in 5-stars Jackson Cantwell and Keenyi Pepe.

I love linemen that are also athletic enough to be legit wrestlers. Wrestlers understand leverage, hand placement, and attention to detail. He's a little light, but how much of that is him having to make weight? The physical size should be there, with collegiate S&C. Every kid isn't going to be ready on day 1 like Mauigoa, but this is the kind of kid that should be ready to contribute by year three. You shouldn't build an entire class around projects, but you should always have 1-2 on hand, especially if they have the physical measureables and good film.

Look at the tape. This kid is an animal who is just waiting to get developed. Imagine him with top notch S&C plus coaching! Look at the athleticism. Look at the footwork. The hands. Not to be hyperbolic but if Ben puts in the work, the sky is the limit. He won't be plug and play like Francis Mauigoa, he will take some development but the potential rewards are very high.

Exactly. There's a lot to work with. This is a risk that Mario is justified in taking. Worst case scenario, he processes out. You can't have 10 of these takes in the class, but you are fine with a couple.

He’s a “large human being,” as OL coaches would say. Definitely a legitimate 6’7” or more, with a wrestling background, and he’s rapidly rising up the rankings.
Penn State has been heavily pursuing him, among others like Wisconsin, and while Congdon has been in the midst of setting official visits, Miami has been pushing all the right buttons and has made Congdon an absolute priority since the onset of the 2025 recruiting calendar year in January. Cristobal went to visit in person too.
