2021 Athlete Xavian Sorey Visits Miami, Receives Offer

Graceville High’s Xavian Sorey, one of the top 2021 recruits in the entire country, was down in Coral Gables this past weekend for a visit. While on the trip, Manny Diaz and the staff extended an offer to the talented athlete.

“I went to the 7v7 tourney in Miami this past weekend and basically after the tournament our team went to visit Miami and coach Diaz offered me himself.”

Miami offered Sorey as an athlete and Sorey doesn't care where he plays, he just wants to play.

“I’ll play anywhere and either side of the ball.”

Sorey spent a lot of time with Coach Diaz, and he gave us his thoughts on Miami’s new head coach.

“Great coach. I’m excited to see what this upcoming season holds.”

Alabama, LSU, and other SEC schools have all offered Sorey over the past two months.

“It’s been crazy, but I been enjoying every moment of it. I dreamed about all this, so I’m just blessed thankful to experience all of it.”

Despite all these other big-time offers, getting an offer from Miami was still a very special moment for Sorey.

“Man, I was excited. He kinda surprised me. It’s special, who wouldn’t want an offer from Miami? I’ve always liked Miami.”

Sorey doesn’t have any upcoming visits planned right now, but he plans on getting back down to Miami soon. It’s clear why he wants to get back down so soon.

“I love Miami man. I’ve never seen a city like that. They're one of my top schools.”

Kid is explosive and dynamic. Glad that Diaz personally offered him because he deserves that for sure. Just a grown man amongst boys in HS. I’d love to see him on the defensive side of the ball but if he wants in on offense, bring him in for that too.

Depends on the kid & how smart we are in putting together a comprehensive marketing pitch.

Miami's inability to keep kids home is not just solely based on "dropping bags", the truth is, we're not very aggressive recruiters, there's still lots of little things we could be doing that we don't do that could persuade more kids to stay home.

But the reality is, our best recruiting pitch will be winning big & stringing together multiple 10+ win seasons.

We also need to expand the map, we need to recruit TX, AZ, NV, ESTL & NJ a lot more.

Why are we not being aggressive, it’s been crystal clear the local kids are going elsewhere, do we just expect them to stay home? It’s so disappointing.

We also don‘t have the recruiting budgets of many of our competitors. Now that isn’t meant to be an excuse for being lazy as texting a kid or calling doesn’t take money. but it does have an impact.

I say this with a ton of respect because I feel like you understand the pulse of South Florida, or at least in your writing thats the vibe I get. Why dont you put together this plan that you feel would benefit Miami and present it to the staff. By doing so I'm suggesting you ask for a job on the staff. With that said I dont know what your current job is and I have no idea if you would even want that type of job, or the responsibility that goes with it. But I do feel like you would bring a lot to the canes in this capacity. Then again you might just be full of hot air. lol .

Ok now a question about this kid. Its not often that a kid speaks so highly about the city of Miami and I thought that was pretty telling. With out reading your post and your thoughts on who leads I would have thought for sure we would be one of the teams in the lead. If were not in the lead where would you put us.

Graceville is a very poor economic small town in the panhandle. Actually only about 25 mins from me in Dothan, Alabama. Its heavy SEC/FSU country. I know some people from that town in Tallahassee and it would be hard for me to see us pull a player from there. Looks like an incredible talent though. Would be hard for me to believe a player from there not to chase a bag. Would be a life changer. Cant blame if he did
