The Miami Hurricanes sent out a flurry of 2021 offers yesterday as they get a better idea of the landscape for next cycle. One of those bids went to a talented in-state defensive lineman named Shambre Jackson, a 4-star prospect from Boone HS in Orlando.
"The D-Line coach talked me and told me I had an offer. It feels great to get an offer from such a great program," Jackson said.
The 6-6 260 pound prospect spent some time talking with Miami DL coach Todd Stroud, who intimated that Jackson could play both inside and outside at the next level. Jackson's athletic ability allows him play basketball for the Braves as well.
"He said I would be a good fit for the defense because I’m big, fast, and powerful, and that’s perfect for the Miami D-Line," Jackson said.
What about Miami has Jackson interested in donning the orange and green?
"Just the legacy and the history of the college," Jackson said of UM. "I've always heard 'The Rock' gets loud."
In terms of other programs that see Jackson's potential, Power 5 schools such as Alabama, Oklahoma, UGA, Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee, among others, have already come on board to offer Jackson a spot in their 2021 class. He says, as of now, he has no visits scheduled.
"I have no leaders, just trying to keep things open," Jackson said. "Alabama, Auburn, UGA are some schools coming hard."
For his part, it's clear Jackson is trying to take things slow while the process plays itself out, but he has an idea of some factors that will be important to him when his commitment day comes.
"I want to have a decision made sometime during fall of my senior year," Jackson said. "I'm looking for a place with good education and coaching."
