2018 safety Hall: Banda makes me feel like I’m his son

The 2018 defensive back class in south Florida has a chance to go down as one of the most heralded groups of all-time. Dade and Broward counties are often though of as Miami’s main recruiting base, but West Palm Beach is easily forgotten.

The Canes are on the verge of landing Amari Carter from Palm Beach Gardens in the 2017 class and the coaches have their sights set on breakout 2018 star Gurvan Hall of Palm Beach Lakes.

Remember, Miami already has commitments from four-star prospects Glbert Frierson and Joshua Jobe at the same position, so that should give you an idea of how highly they think of Hall. The Canes offered Hall at Paradise Camp back in July and safeties coach Ephraim Banda has since been aggressive in cultivating their relationship.

“Me and Coach Banda – we’re real close. It’s been about a month or two since we’ve been talking, but he makes me feel like I’m his son. He will always support me and I will always support him.” Hall explained.

When describing his experience at the Miami – Florida State game, his second Canes game of the season, Hall referred to the Hurricanes as “we”.

“We’re going to get them next year. When we see them again, we’ll beat them,” Hall said. “That was just a great experience to see that rivalry and see everybody support it.”

The willingness of Canes DC Manny Diaz to play freshmen has caught Hall’s attention.

“I really love the defense. I enjoy seeing how they have a few freshmen out there and they’re letting them see what they’ve got,” he said.

He added, “Everybody loves Coach Richt and how he’s bringing that old style back to The U.”

Although Miami has prioritized Hall very early in his process, he maintains that he is, “keeping his recruiting options open until he’s fully ready”. His family though, tells Hall that he will be “homesick” if he leaves the state, so he admitted that Florida and Florida State are two schools he will check out when he gets the chance.

One other note is that Hall calls Amari Carter “a good friend” and said that he and Carter will “most likely, probably” play at the same program in college.

Peterariz how many more dbs we taking? You've still got blades, Campbell, this kid and a few other. Don't got room for them all

Thanks for the update, Pete. Any word on Carter committing?

Maybe they move Gibson to LB?

Hopefully they all commit so our safeties are deep enough for all the BS targeting calls these monsters get to not be a major factor

Savage and love the attitude. He'll absolutely come in here and contribute to beating FSU.

Is jalen patterson a take

If he's not, its kinda weird he's been committed for so long

The staff barely talks to him anymore from what I was told from my connect over there. I don't expect him to be in the next class. That's aside from the fact his family is all noles and gators and he basically hinted he's waiting on an FSU offer.

I've been a firm believer that Finley will move down to LB. I think Gibson could end up a LB too depending how his frame takes on weight, he's great in the box.

If you had to make an educated guess how does our 17 and 18 classes shape up?

Would be Blades, Campbell, Frierson, Hall, Ivey & Jobe.

Apparently new staff not high on Asante.

I think they won't turn down a guy like Patrick Surtain Jr., Tyreke Johnson, Nadab Joseph or CJ Smith if one wants in. I doubt Surtain or Tyreke come here though. Think it will come down to numbers and how we do in 2017 haul though. Keep an eye on Trenell Troutman as a possible guy to throw in there too.

I like Dominick Watt a lot but I'm very concerned considering Jon Richt came to his school a few months ago and asked for his transcripts and no offer came.(Coaches usually do that before offering)

Keep an eye on Cameron Jonas from Dwyer. I've heard they like him a lot as a LB.

I have stressed it a lot that we have to land the best of the best next year, there will be good db's getting away. We can't take them all.

Me & DMoney been very high on Gurvan for a long time now. Those sophomore highlights don't even tell the whole tale. He's taken his game to another level this year. Check out some of the single game clips.

FWIW as Pete mentioned. Gurvan is very close with Amari.

Is Thomas Burns still being pursued by our staff? Seems like there isn't much talk about him at all.

There's no way all of them end up coming right? Got to think at least one goes elsewhere..

Alabama takes like 5-7 top shelf db's a year. With that thought process our DB depth will stay horrible. Landing top dogs in 2018 is critical, our DB depth is nowhere close to what Miami should be right now and the 2017 class where it is right now won't completely fix it either.

If we don't walk out of the 2018 class with at least 6 good DBs, I would be very dissapointed.

Blades and Hall are pretty much a given.

Rumph been coaching Campbell since little league. FWIW he's been to every game this year. Rumph gotta land him to silence people. If there is a kid he can get, it's Campbell.

Oh I agree with you. We need them all for sure...just questioning if it's possible
