2015 Wesminster Christian (Fla.) athlete Tim Irvin has been a star on the Warriors football team dating back to his freshman year. Three years later Irvin is preparing to enter his senior year and is looking for a state championship before he leaves.
“This year I’m just coming in as a new person, just getting bigger, faster, stronger and proving my football abilities on the field and off the field. Next year I just want to get a state ring before I head off to college.”
Irvin has taken a senior leadership role for his team by not only leading drills and being a vocal leader, but also providing guidance for the young players.
“I’m doing all of that, I’m prepping all the guys to better themselves as young men with a better work ethic and being a leader and just coming out everyday. I just show them the right things to be successful.”
The Warriors past season was an impressive one, as they went 11-1 in the regular season before coming up short in the State Semifinal game to Clearwater Central Catholic. Despite the loss, the 2015 athlete still feels it was very good season.
“Last season, we had a good season we just fell one game before going to states, but I think we played our hearts out. Last year we all fought our hearts out until the end, but everyone can’t go to states and win states.”
Irvin has been receiving college attention dating back to his freshman days and has a plethora of schools coming after him right now.
“Right now, I really don’t have a top school. I’m just really open to every school recruiting me. Right now, I’m just open.”
Irvin received an offer from Oregon this past week along with Louisville.
“This past week Oregon offered me, which was a pretty big deal. That was a big time offer for me”
One school that has been consistent in making the south Florida stud a main target is the Alabama Crimson Tide.
“I’ve been talking to coach Cristobal a lot. Alabama, that’s a great program, Nick Saban he’s an awesome guy. He has the programed disciplined and in strength and Alabama as you can see right now, is the top football team in college football.”
The hometown Hurricanes have also made Irvin a priority for their 2015 class and he’s very much aware of it.
“Actually, Coach Michael Barrow and coach Golden came to see me this past week. It was big visit and those two persons are great people. They came to talk to me about the education standpoint and how Miami is the hometown and how they want me to come in and be a big factor on the team. That was big step and those coaches are great coaches.”
Miami has not addressed what position they want the stud playmaker at, but he does prefer to be situated on the defensive of the ball as a defensive back and also contribute on special teams.
While Irvin is planning on making his own decision, his teammate Jordan Cronkrite was recently offered by Miami and he went into detail on that.
“It means a lot, I was actually with him when he got offered by Miami. I was surprised, it’s going to be a great opportunity to play at the same college with Jordan. He’s a great player, a great person to be around and hopefully we’ll play together.”
While a possible combination of Cronkrite and Irvin is in the mix, another 2015 athlete might join that mix too. 2015 Safety Jaquan Johnson is a close friend with Irvin and he spoke about their relationship.
“Me and Jaquan have been friends since middle school, we have a bond that probably I could say no one could break. Me and him are going to play at the same college, we decided we want to play with each other at the next level. We’re really close.”
So what are the chances that Cronkrite, Johnson and Irvin all end up at the same school?
“Probably pretty high, like it’s pretty high.”
-Irvin said he had a “Good time” at Junior Day and rated it an “8 out of 10”
-Planning a visit to West Virginia later in the year
-Wants to announce at an All-Star game.
-Will be playing for the South Florida Express this Spring and Summer
