No need to overthink it. Guy was a lower level player trying to make the jump in comp to P4 and went to an inherently friendly WR offense with one of the best offensive minds in CFB and could not produce. Yes he was hurt a lot but not as much as people are alluding. Not like he tore his ACL in camp and couldnt bounce back. He played in 4 games and averaged a catch a game.
