It was bizzarre because one week prior vs FAU the true freshmen played a ton: Coley, Burns, Edwards, AQM, Elder, Grace, Carter, Dobard. Of those, only AQM saw limited action at DE vs Florida because David Gilbert was working his way back from a foot injury.

Remember, his mentor Joe Paterno would redshirt all true freshmen who arrived at PSU. He might have upheld that practice until his retirement. I happen to think Cristobal is cut from a similar 1950s toughness/brawn cloth. As you stated, it worked in 2013. It was the right move since we really didn't make any major mistakes and were able to win ugly by causing TOs.

With so much riding on the game's outcome, I can't say I'd be shocked if Mario operated that way in this game on the road in August.
